Bible Question: I want to buy a new Bible. I am very conflicted whether I should go with the ESV or the NASB. I want the most accurate translation available from the original languages. I have been using the Old King James for many years and find unacceptable the mis-translation in Isaiah 14:12 and references to the Passover as "Easter." Please help.... |
Bible Answer: I thought I would toss in my two cents. I have both the NASB and the ESV. The ESV is easier to read than the NASB and I have bought the whole family their own ESV so we can all read out of the same version. The downside to the ESV, since it is newer translation there is a limited amount of additional resources built around the ESV (although the new ESV Study Bible is awesome!). As others have already stated, if accuracy is the number one goal, then the NASB is the 1st choice. ESV is good, but it is not number 1, that is held by the NASB. |
