Subject: Can anyone recommend a good study book? |
Bible Note: Dear Tim, That must be one of those rhetorical questions intended to make a point. I suspect that you know that God can turn stones into the sons of Abraham if He chose to do so. Pastors would, of course, recognize that they are a gift of God for the ministry of grace to their congregation through the preaching and teaching of the Word. Their deep love of the flock, and related desire for their welfare, would focus on their feeding and care. So they'd encourage them to avail themselves of the other gifts of God by consideration of the instruction of the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers who have gone to glory. Furthermore, as a pastor with such a demonstrably high view of Scripture as you have asserted, they would carefully use all the resources at their disposal to prepare good, solid expository sermons! And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.
