Bible Question:
Someone asked me what my take is on the following question: Three of the four gospels give an account of a man by the name of Simon the Cyrene helping Jesus carry the cross. In the gospel of John there is no mention of Simon the Cyrene helping to carry the cross of Christ. Why is that? _______________________ I feel it was not omitted for any reason, in particular. While the gospels harmonize, they all do not tell the exact same specific events in the exact same manner. Am I on the right track? Please comment. Thank you very much. tt |
Bible Answer: The Gospel authors were as you and I, human. Just because one omits something, or tells it in a different manner than another should not cast doubt. Think of it this way, If 4 different people should discribe some significant occurrance in your life, is it likely that all their accounts would encompass the entire line of events, and be described in like manner? |
