Bible Question (short): ... |
Question (full): Why do Christians worship Jesus/God but do not practice the religion of his Bible? (Christians worship Jesus/God and believe he created the universe, and yet, many of them have not bothered to read the book he wrote, the Bible. Many Christians are only familiar with the verses of the Bible that are spoken of in church and those never include the ones on the 40 youths being killed because of teasing someone(OT) or the couple being killed by god because of lying about how much money they gave to the church (NT). Practicing the EXACT religion of the Bible, as it is written and as it was practiced back then by Jesus and his followers would mean the death penaty for every person who works on Sunday, etc. Those laws and punishement were NEVER rescined anywhere in the Bible nor by Jesus, in fact, he confirmed them.) So, why, if Christians worship Jesus/God do they live by their own laws and punishments, which are different and far more moral than the ones the Bible/Jesus/God dictates? Isn't that creating your own religion? Isn't it apparent that the Bible laws and punishments are morally outdated and so how could an omnipotent being write such a book? If the creator of the universe, a being of such vast intelligence wrote a book it would be timeless and it would not speak of beating slaves as okay and it would not say that crippled people could descrate anything. People want to be Christian for a multitude of reasons and maybe they are better people for it, but why tie their belief in creating a better world to such a brutal and primitive god/book? |
