Bible Question:
I did search for my question. It is about memorization/translation. I have researched and am aware of the 4 versions of Textus Receptus, and Erasmus, and Aleph/B and Westcott and Hort (some say that are "the devil"), and such. I know how to study, but what version to memorize. *formal vs.. dynamic--I say form. *arcane/archaic language vs.. vernacular--I say vernacular (we own donkeys, and I like using that word:)), but I have accidentally learned scripture because of listening to songs that sing it--what about matching those versions? NASB probably won't do it. *Pronoun capitalization--I frankly think doing so is paramount to commentary or paraphrase. NASB does it, but that won't matter for memorization. *flow for memorization--some say use NKJV. What do you say?????? Kent if you want to email, use admin at webnwrite.com |
Bible Answer: I agree with Doc in that if I were just starting out to memorize Scripture, the English Standard Version would probably be my first choice. However, I'm not just starting. I began memorizing verses in the King James Version in 1957. No use changing horses in the middle (or, in my case, near the end) of the stream. Grace to you, John |
