Bible Question:
I did search for my question. It is about memorization/translation. I have researched and am aware of the 4 versions of Textus Receptus, and Erasmus, and Aleph/B and Westcott and Hort (some say that are "the devil"), and such. I know how to study, but what version to memorize. *formal vs.. dynamic--I say form. *arcane/archaic language vs.. vernacular--I say vernacular (we own donkeys, and I like using that word:)), but I have accidentally learned scripture because of listening to songs that sing it--what about matching those versions? NASB probably won't do it. *Pronoun capitalization--I frankly think doing so is paramount to commentary or paraphrase. NASB does it, but that won't matter for memorization. *flow for memorization--some say use NKJV. What do you say?????? Kent if you want to email, use admin at webnwrite.com |
Bible Answer: Hi, anotherview... The KJV is really lovely (I use the NASB for study), but I've found the ESV to be particularly easy to understand. Consequently, when quoting the ESV to others, I don't have to explain the anachronistic language. Yea, I durst not, lest they, being wroth against me, begin withal to chode with me. :-) In Him, Doc |
