Subject: What is progeny? |
Bible Note: Hi David, So Noah and his family, Adam, and everyone, were nephilim? That would be big! That would answer my question - Maybe they were ALL giants! One tiny point: if we are talking about the line of Seth and the line of Cain, we are possibly talking about billions of people on either side (no one really knows, of course, but extremely conservative estimates come up with sum really big numbers.) What do you think about the "sons of God" thing? Is there a Biblical reason to define "sons of God" in this passage as different from all other usages in the Bible, which all agree with each other? Is there anything that tells us that the "sons of God" in Gen. 6 refers to a particular group of people, to the exclusion of another group of people? That question breeds another: What about the "daughters of men"? Where in the text do we find that these daughters are the - whoops! - not the "daughters of men", but the daughters of SOME men" - just 'those' men? Do you think that there was any of the "daughters of God" marrying the "sons of men"? What of their children? But seriously, these "sons of Seth", if they were the "Godly line", would all have to either marry from the wrong side of the tracks, or die, and that "Godly line" disappear - entirely! And if they were the "Godly line", what are they doing marrying "those" girls, anyway? Just some thoughts - I know this one will be debated until kingdom come. :-) Love in Christ, mark |
