Subject: Comparing versions to the literal Greek |
Bible Note: Doc: Glad you're enjoying your NET Bible. I'm sure the friend who gave it to you will be pleased to know that. I myself am reading it more and more. (Tonight I took it to Bible study.) One thing I like about the NET Bible is that in those passages where the literal translation of the Greek or Hebrew is not present in the text, it is in the footnotes. Speaking of books, I have begun reading 'The Word of God in English: Criteria for Excellence in Bible Translation' by Leland Ryken. It's a good read and an excellent treatment of the subject.
