Bible Question: Regarding the modern state of Israel, is the Prophet Jeremiah refering to it in 9: 13-16? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Emilio and welcome to the forum, God presented Israel with a conditional covenant which they continually break, as a nation, from the exodus to this very day. Proverbs 1:24 "Because I called, and you refused; I stretched out my hand, and no one paid attention; Jeremiah 11:10 "They have turned back to the iniquities of their ancestors who refused to hear My words, and they have gone after other gods to serve them; the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers." Jeremiah 13:10 'This wicked people, who refuse to listen to My words, who walk in the stubbornness of their hearts and have gone after other gods to serve them and to bow down to them, let them be just like this waistband, which is totally worthless. There are numerous account in the Bible that refer to the final trouble that Israel will face but they all pale by comparison to the final trouble. Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. Most of Israel will be wiped out in the future but a remnant will be delivered. Romans 11:25-26 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. [26] And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: The period of time that you asked about is a foreshadowing, a type that is yet to come, i.e. not the actual situation the way I see it in Jeremiah 9:13-16.
