Bible Question: How many angels were mentioned in the bible? |
Bible Answer: Greetings lilstewart, and welcome to the forum. There a literally thousands of angels but we only know the names of several of them both good and bad. Jesus is speaking in the next verse. Matthew 26:53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? Roman history shows that there were anywhere from 3,000 to 6,000 men in a legion. Assuming that everything that Jesus spoke was truth and it is, it could have been, if my math is correct, up to 72,000 angels at a moments notice and that was likely only the ones that weren’t in gauged in other activity at the time. The actual number or count of all the angels is probably astronomically huge! Have a great day, CDBJ |
