Bible Question: In the OT, if we love God and obey his commandments, we are blessed. In the NT, if we love God, and obey his commandments, we will be persecuted. I believe the difference lies in Luke 10:18 and Revelation 12:13 whereby Satan has been cast to earth. My thoughts are that this happened directly before, after or during Jesus's ministry on earth. Any ideas? |
Bible Answer: "In the OT, if we love God and obey his commandments, we are blessed. In the NT, if we love God, and obey his commandments, we will be persecuted." Is that true or are we looking at it wrong? David certainly didn't think he was always blessed, especially when Saul was chasing him around to kill him. I take it your living in the United States, compared to 60 percent of the rest of the world your blessed no matter your state. We look have a tendency to look at blessings being monetary. However if we know Jesus we have eternal blessing, we are promised riches beyond measure and one day we will have a mansion to live in. Most Christians in United States are persecuted because they make themselves odorous to others. When you get into someone’s face no matter what your telling them they will probably react against you. For some reason Christians love to get into people's face. Think about it is the reaction any different when you tell someone, "you need to grow up your acting immature." Versus "If you don't know Jesus your going to burn in Hell." No you have stirred up anger in both cases. Many times we need to say you need a friend let me be your friend. Then let them see Jesus in us. If Jesus really dwells in you they will soon begin to ask what is different in us. Then you tell them about Jesus. EdB |
