Subject: Holy Spirit question on mysterious ways |
Bible Note: Ray, the William Cowper quotation appears in Bartlett's Familiar Quotations and in MacMillan Dictionary of Quotations. The entire hymn is printed in The Harvard Classics (volume 45). The hymn, called "Light Shining Out of Darkness," consists of six stanzas, of which the stanza that begins with "God moves in a mysterious way" is the first. I particularly like the last stanza of Cowper's hymn. It goes like this: "Blind unbelief is sure to err, and scan His work in vain; God is His own interpreter, and He will make it plain." --Hank |
