Subject: Will suicide condem my soul to hell? |
Bible Note: Dear George, Is 53:10 But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the GOOD PLEASURE of the LORD will prosper in His hand. Phil 2:13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His GOOD PLEASURE. If I seem "wishy washy" it is my reluctance to go beyond Scripture. I also find it impossible to believe that man is the author and the finisher of his own faith. The Bible says Jesus is responsible for our faith (Heb 12:2). I realize that if one presumes that man is ultimately the one who decides his own fate, then, rejecting Christ and salvation makes sense. The problem I have is that it conflicts with too many passages that speak of God's soveriegnty. I don't see the idea that man can successfully resist God's will as glorifying to God. If God cannot keep His New Creatures from rebelling, He then appears weak and subject to defeat. I find this view obnoxious and man glorifying! How can a lump of clay do anything apart from the will of the Potter? Take another look ay Rom 9 and John 6 just for starters. John |
