Bible Note: JibbyJee: It's easy enough to see where you're coming from and why you think that anyone who disagrees with Calvinism is a heretic. The lawyer-turned-theologian who developed the system of soteriology that bears his name had his own way of dealing with those who disagreed with his views. They were branded "heretics" and exiled or something worse. John Calvin, the autocrat, often mistook his own will for the will of God. Many Calvinists have remained true to the example he set and call heresy any doctrine that does not line up with 5-Point Calvinism. Is your vision so blurred and your perception so warped that you cannot conceive of non-Calvinists, such as New Creature and myself, along with the majority of users of this forum, as being anything but heretics? Why don't you conserve the energy you use trying to convert non-Calvinist Christians (yes, there is such a thing as that) to your brand of Calvinism and use it to preach to sinners who don't know Christ? Or would that be a foolish undertaking since they may not be of the elect anyway? Too bad God didn't think to put a mark on the elect so you Calvinists would know who to preach to. When Calvinists or any other group get to the point where they think theirs in the only game in town, it's a sad day for Christianity. I've had my say and am finished. Since you came as close to an apology as it appears you are capable of, I will stay away from the abuse button for the time being, but if you continue on with your know-it-all attitude and your name calling on this forum, be assured that there are a number of regular users of this forum who will not tolerate it and will not hesitate to take remedial action. --Hank |
