Bible Note: Thanks Hank - Great answer. You wrote, "Genuine exegesis holds that the interpretation of any portion of Scripture that contradicts the clear teaching of any other portion or portions of Scripture is faulty interpretation." What should our attitude be toward those who engage in "faulty interpretation?" Of course, it could again be argued as to what constitudes "clear teaching?" (Now don't get your dander up; I'm not trying to be contrary or take aim here. I'm just wondering a bit.) Jesus Christ, crucified, buried and raised to life on the third day - literal day:-) is the Gospel that most on this Forum agree to. Yet, it seems to me that all to often, believers accuse those who disagree on denominational differences (which arise from "interpretive" conclusions)as heretics or even apostates. I am not suggesting tolerance of "any other gospel" yet I believe the response of the Church (as well as the individual believer) toward one another is just as important as it was centuries ago. Perhaps had we sought the hand of God rather than relied upon the hand of man, the world would be a different place . . . ah, but is that not what we have to look forward to?! Blessed Day. mommapbs |
