Bible Question: If people look for evil they can find evil. Why are there people attacking Harry Potter and reading evil into its words? Isn't the fantastical and fiction simply that? I know I am sparking a debate, but I need intellectual and biblical analysis of reading fiction that contains elements of idolatry, witchcraft, murder, theft, and any other sin. Why is it okay for us to teach children to believe in Santa Claus? Or better yet why do we consider Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, Cinderella, and The Wizard of Oz, acceptable for Christian children? Are values based on what is culturally acceptable.? |
Bible Answer: Yes, VALUES are based on what is culturally acceptable. Christian MORALITY, however, is based upon a belief in God and His Word. |
