Bible Question: Is all gambling wrong? I know the bible talks about gambling but is there a difference between gambling and entertainment? Because someone could pay 6 dollars to play a game of poker...or 6 dollars to go to the movies. Either way they are paying for entertainment. And isn't the stock market gambling? Because people are paying money for something that they can lose or win. Seems like the same concept. |
Bible Answer: There is no "Eleventh Commandment" in the Bible saying "Thou shalt not gamble." However, gambling violates at least five doctrines of Scripture: the sovereignty of God, stewardship, covetousness, brotherly love, and God’s instruction not to be brought under the power of anything.
