Bible Question:
in isaiah 50:7, it says "therefor i have set my face like flint" i ask because in rita springer's song "like you Jesus", her chorus says, "set my face as flint before you now", and i wanted to know what that meant. thank you. |
Bible Answer: Hi, sarJ... welcome to the forum... The phrase "set my face like flint," means in this context courage and resolute, unchangeable/unswerving determination. Thus, in the context of this passage, it means that Messiah would meet head-on and not shrink away from any suffering He would face in order accomplish the work that was set before Him. Compare Isaiah 48:4 where similar language is used in a negative sense, and Ezekiel 3:8-9 where it is used in a positive sense. I hope that helps. In Him, Doc |
