Bible Question: Is it true that the Sinaiticus was being used as a firestarter when found? If this is true than was it there because of an oversight or because it was consider an unworthy translation? |
Bible Answer: The Codex Sinaiticus was found at the foot of Mount Sinai hence it's name. It contains many scribal error most of which appear to be careless omissions. For this reason it is considered a flawed document, However it does closely reflect the Codex Vaticanus which adds to that manuscripts already high acceptance. So it does have a place of importance because of this. I could not confirm or deny the story about it being used to start fires. EdB |
