Bible Question:
I'm hoping someone might have an answer to this question. In the last month I can remember four or five specific incidents where glass broke in our house. Either the wind knocked something over, something slipped out of someone's hand and even once while my mom was preserving fruit the glass got too hot and shattered. I didn't really pay attention to it but this morning the thought struck me that there may be some reason these things are happening. Does the Bible say anything about things breaking and should we be placing any significance in these occurences? Just wondering. Thank you MacA |
Bible Answer: Son, you need to be careful of superstition. God does not teach us to follow omens or signs (Deut 18:14). Instead, we walk in Christ (Col 2:6), acknowledging Him in all that we do (Prov 3:5-6), and He will direct us and cause everything to come together for His glory (Rom 11:36) and our benefit (Rom 8:28). Superstitious people do natural things expecting supernatural results. This was common among the Pharisees (Mark 7;8). But if you think about it, another word for "doing natural things expecting supernatural results" is magic. We, as believers, do not live in this fashion (Deut 18:10-12, Col 2:20-22). |
