Bible Question:
Good evening to every one online. Im a baby in Christ, and trying to learn as much as I can learn regarding the word of God. I have been told in all thy getting get thine own understanding. I looked up that verse and found it in Proverbs4:7. In the king James version it reads Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting get understanding. My question is this, when I study and I get and understanding of what Im reading, and then speak to someone else about it, and they say my understanding is wrong. How should I study? by myself or with someone who knows more than me, and get their understanding? I have to get my own understanding right? |
Bible Answer: I have been in the same situation before. Even now, after being saved for 15 years, I still encounter these situations. The best I can tell you to do is to 1) talk to you Pastor about your findings and 2)If for some reason you find that you do not agree with your Pastor then, if the topic is not one that threatens your salvation then it is your opinion but do not teach other members of your church in contrast to your pastor's teaching. You may just need to either keep it to yourself. 3)If it is something that is major to your salvation then be obedient to the words of your pastor and if you still believe you are right pray that God will either confirm you thoughts and, or give you peace about following your pastor's. It is better to be obedient than risk being wrong. Also, if your Pastor is wrong then, if he or she allows God to do so, God will reveal it to them. Otherwise, just as we stand in judgement so do our pastors. Have faith that your pastor will or is led of the Lord. If you do not go to a church and do not have a pastor then you need to do so. Otherwise, you are like a gold fish in the ocean. No one can make it to heaven on their own. "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. How can one hear if they do not have a preacher?" How many people do you know who graduated from high school and college with out ever going, having an instructor and never taking a test. |
