Bible Question:
Hi, I'm a fairly new Christian (about half a year now) and I'm working on dealing with my past in accordance to scripture. When I was younger I was raped and am just now coming to terms with it and starting the path to recovery. I am doing well as God is carrying me but I have encountered one problem: The issue of Purity. In the bible (as far as know - remember I'm new) there is nothing about rape or if your are concidered pure after rape and what God thinks of it ect. ect. so if anyone out there can help me that would be awsome! :) Praise be to God! |
Bible Answer: Hi, Patts! The closest Biblical passage that I have found is as follows: But if the man ran into the betrothed girl in the open country and slept with her, having taken her by force, her ravisher alone must die; you must do nothing to the girl, she has not committed a capital offence. The case is like that of a man who attacks and kills his fellow: since he came across her in the open country, the betrothed girl may have called out without anyone's coming to her rescue. (Deuteronomy 22:25-27) This passage clearly places the blame on the person who assaults the victim. The scene, though not relative to our present society (no fear of God and lack of love and compassion), depicts a girl/woman overpowered and assaulted against her will and with no one to protect her. Such a person will never be held accountable, by God, for the actions perpetrated by her attacker. Remember, as long as you do not defile yourself, you are pure in God's eyes! Bring all your concerns and pain to Jesus; He has the power to heal and make you whole: Jesus said: I am the resurrection. Anyone who believes in me, even though that person dies, will live, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die... (John 11:25-26) In Jesus you are Whole and Complete! God Bless! Angel |
