Bible Question: I see what you are saying about making a joyful noise....but can't a joyful noise be a quiet noise? Doesn't God smile with pleasure every time he hears his name? Do I have to shout it out so he can hear me? This is a really important question to me so thank you for taking your time to answer. |
Bible Answer: I know where you are coming from. I grew up in very quiet churches. Preacher can preach for an hour without even a whisper. I've even attended churches where they would not applaud after a song was completed. If you are in this type of church it would be very hard to shout. You know people are going to look at you funny. I started attending an Apostolic church, the preacher encourages the joyful noise, he feeds off of it, lets the Holy Ghost have it's way. There is much shouting, THANK YOU JESUS!!! In this type of environment, you can't help but get caught up in the moment. While you are shouting to God you are also empowering yourself and others around you. Try it sonetime. If there is no shouting in your church, locate one in your area where there is much shouting. With all the shouting going on no one will even notice you. Just let it out and see what comes in. More examples, Peter on the water: Matthew 14:30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. Matthew 15:21-28 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Matthew 20:29-34 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. Most importanly, talk to your pastor on this subject as the pastor is the one to feed you. Jeremiah 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
