Bible Note: Sir Pent There is a fourth option and one I believe is most common. The Pastor is insecure and afraid that he might lost this person to another group/church. Many Pastors view the church not as God's but rather as their own. Society has a tendency to judge success not by what is accomplished but rather by how much. In many cases the number of people that attend directly effect the Pastor’s salary and whether he has the support of the church board of not. Therefore anything that could possibly lead a person away becomes an adversary or stands in the way of Pastor feeling/appearing successful. I believe this is one reason the church in America is so splintered, many that stand in pulpit do so by what they believe is their own ability and I guess in some cases that is true. However in the church that is truly serving God it is God that adds and subtracts not the ability of the man or anything else. EdB |
