Bible Question: I have different bibles. NKJV study, KJV, amplified, and NLT. Is one more accurate or all the same info, just written so more user friendly. Im so new to this scene and very confused about where i belong. Thank you for your patience and kindness in advance. |
Bible Answer: mikec: I can't tell someone else which Bible version they should use. But I can make a recommendation. I can tell you which Bibles I prefer. I use a number of translations for reading and study. The ones I use and trust most are the New American Standard Bible and the New King James Version. These two translations are unbeatable for literalness and accuracy. This is not to say there are no other trustworthy, literal, accurate versions. There are others. Which Bible is right for you depends on several factors, such as your reading level and personal preferences. Which are you looking for -- readability or accuracy? Of the four you mentioned I would go with the NLT for readability and the NKJV for literal accuracy. Since you are new to this scene, I would highly recommend the Life Application Study Bible. The notes and helps in it are easy to understand. It is published in several translations -- NLT, NIV, KJV, NKJV and NASB. It is available online and in bookstores everywhere. You can even buy one at Wal-Mart. The bottom line is that the best translation of the Bible is the one you understand and trust. Grace to you, kalos |
