Subject: Ordained of God or Man? |
Bible Note: I would agree that men are ordained by God, as Norm has mentioned Acts 20:28 says this, but I would also go to the qualifications for an overseer in 1 Timothy 3:1-5: "If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, soberminded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own hosehold well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church?" Now keeping in mind that God does call them, they are required to have a lot, including "able to teach." God will provide the way for all of this if he has called them and in our time the way to receive knowledge is mostly through an institution of some type. Therefore, I would say that it is not required in order to be ordained, but in this time most of those who God has given these qualifications has been ordained by an institution. |
