Bible Question: How long should a person fast? |
Bible Answer: There's no set length of time to fast. As children of God, we know we need to fast often to keep the flesh under the subjection of the will of God. When you plan to fast, set the length - 24 hours, 3 days, a week, etc. Then stick to it. Also, some fast from certain things: TV, foods, different activities. We know that Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights (Matthew 4:2). Sometimes on a long fast, I may plan to drink water every 6 or 12 hours, but that's me and that's not everytime I fast. It's whatever you're lead to do (by the Holy Ghost). Plan also to study and meditate on the Word while you are fasting. If you are fasting to hear from God, or to get closer to Him, even maybe to kill out something ungodly you found in yourself, you want your fast to be successful. After you begin to fast, you'll be more comfortable in setting your length. I hope this helps some, WalkingTalkingBible WalkingTalkingBible |
