Subject: name Jehovah |
Bible Note: Hi EdB, I find it of interest that the pronouns for God in Exodus 3:15 total seven, which is a good complete number. :)) I find it of interest also that we know that it is not talking of three Gods, that is, the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. We know that because of verse 16 where it talks of the singular God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. If we were to choose one pronoun out of the seven would it not be, "the (God) of your fathers"? And Moses was saying that "The (God) of our fathers has sent me to you." And verse 14 says, "I/ am has sent me to you". In other words God says "I am who I am". I am the God of your fathers who sends you. I like to compare/contrast verse 13 and 14 with John 15:16-19. "But (I) chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain...but I/ chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." The Lord [YHWH] is the (God) of their fathers and they did not choose Him, but (He) chose them. From the heart, Ray |
