Bible Question: Johnny Cash on Larry King Live yesterday mentioned having a dream in which he saw Queen Elisabeth sitting on the floor and she said to him "You are a thorn in the wilderness." Johnny said he found out later this is a Biblical reference but didn't tell the whole story. Can you tell me what is this Biblical reference to a thorn in the wilderness? Thank you. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Cong - welcome to the Forum. You can use the search feature for the words you are looking for! I found Judges 8:7 and 16 have two references to thorns in the wilderness. In this passage they are used as instruments of discipline. Read the account of Gideon. I don't know if we can compare Johnny Cash to this partiarch, but certainly we can apply the truth of God's Word to our own circumstances. Sometimes God uses people and sometimes He uses things as instruments of correction for us too. However, if God gives us an assignment to correct or discipline another believer, it is imperative that we seek God's guidance in the matter, otherwise we are in danger of ignoring the beam in our own eye (See Mt 7:3) Paul instructs us: "Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted." Gal 6:1 Blessings on your day! mommapbs |
