NASB | Judges 6:37 behold, I will put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I will know that You will deliver Israel through me, as You have spoken." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Judges 6:37 behold, I will put a fleece of [freshly sheared] wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece, and it is dry on all the ground [around it], then I will know that You will rescue Israel through me, as You have said." |
Bible Question:
Why did Gideon test the Lord (vv 36-40)? When is it okay for us to ask for assurance before we do something He told us to? Steve |
Bible Answer: I always ask God for confirmation when I feel like He has told me to do something. One time I felt like God was telling me to quit my job. I was completely prepared to do it no questions asked. Then I asked for confirmation. I kept coming across people, scripture, and books that said "God is not the Author of confusion." I had some lady say "Make sure satan isn't telling you to do something so later on you will say why did you do this to me God." I could go on and on about the ways God has used people to confirm His will. I personally think it is OK to ask for a little confirmation. Not a big confirmation. Just a little one. |
