NASB | Judges 21:5 ¶ Then the sons of Israel said, "Who is there among all the tribes of Israel who did not come up in the assembly to the LORD?" For they had taken a great oath concerning him who did not come up to the LORD at Mizpah, saying, "He shall surely be put to death." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Judges 21:5 ¶ Then the sons of Israel said, "Which one from all the tribes of Israel did not come up in the assembly to the LORD?" For they had taken a great oath concerning him who did not come up to the LORD at Mizpah, saying, "He shall certainly be put to death." |
Subject: Missing tribe at Jabesh Gilead? |
Bible Note: I guess I'm missing something. At the end of chapter 20 it says that only 600 Benjamites were living and had fled to the rock of Rimmon. The Israelites went back to Benjamin and put the town to the sword. The Israelites realized the tribe of Benjamin would end without any heirs. Their vow to not give their daughters to a Benjamite for a wife pretty much stopped the bloodline. Since there were only 600 left, I felt like there was another tribe that refused to join the assembly which provided these 600 Benjamites with wives. |
