Bible Question: does anyone have any more information about the conception of a NAZIRITE ? note: I did not say nazarene. There were 3 men born a nazirite... samson ... sammuel .. john the baptist. Moses wrote the vow of a nazirite, but it is not the same as one who is born a nazirite.one bible ref. is (judges 13:3-5) If you don't have reference material, please don't reply with your opinions until this is an answered thread. Then I welcome your opinions and comments. |
Bible Answer: joel k: Samson was the only Nazarite/Nazirite concieved as such and I can find no other. You state that Samuel and John were also but I dont find where you see "Nazirite" around their names. Speaking of John the Baptist. Luke1:15. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. This verse doesn't include that a rasor shall not come upon His head, as does the verse pertaining to Samuel and Samson. And in Judges 13:15 She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe. We find that it is Samson's mother not eating anything unclean or drinking from the vine. 1 Samuel 1:11. And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no rasor come upon his head. Matthew 2:23. And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene. Not a Nazirite. Which whould be someone of whom you speak as one that takes a vow. Hope this helps God Bless |
