Bible Question:
While reading about the two on the Road to Emmaus I noticed that one of the men mentioned was named Clopas. I know that Cleopas was the husband of the 'other Mary'. (John 19: 24-26) I wonder if this Clopas here is just a variant on the spelling of his name. Also there is a Simon mentioned I don't believe that it is Simon Peter, so I'm wondering if it might be Simon the Leper. Any thoughts on that? Songbirdca aka Laura |
Bible Answer: Greetings, songbird!! Yes, the Clopas in John(or, Cleophas in the KJV) is indeed the same as Cleopas in Luke 24. Why the different spellings, I do not know. As far as Simon, I believe that is also Peter. It may, however, be another of the apostles, Simon the Zealot. Peace be with you always!! 2nd Samuel 22 |
