Bible Question (short): Compare the annointings of Jesus? |
Question (full): The instance of Jesus being annointed as recorded in Matthew 6: 6-13, John 12:1-8, and Mark 14:2-9 was just prior to His crucifixion. It is different from the anointing as described in Luke 7:36-50. John 11:2 indicates that Mary, the sister of Lazarus did the annointing. The account in Luke places Jesus in the home of Simon (the pharisee) and the annointing was done by a woman with a sinful past - was this a polite term for prostitution? Could this have been Mary Magdalene? It is interesting to note that Mary, the sister of Lazarus, followed the example of a prostitute!Comments on this welcomed! |
