Bible Answer: Greetings bbj2004ur, In fact, the Bible does not contradict itself when it speaks of eternal security. If we take a look at the verses that you have mentioned, not one of them "contradicts" the eternal security of the believer in Christ: 2 Thess. 2:13, James 1:18, John 1:17, 2 Cor. 1:22 and 5:5, Romans 8:23, Acts 20:28, 1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 1:12,14, John 10:27,30 and 3:15,16-36. Rather, I see the very verses that you cited as being a support to what the Bible teaches about eternal security. Eternal security, or "once saved always saved", simply means that we cannot be lost; we are eternally secure in Christ once we have been saved (John 3:16; Philippians 1:6; John 10:27-29; and Romans 8:38-39). The Bible nowhere even hints that it is possible to lose your salvation. Blessings to you, Makarios |
