Bible Question (short): scrip.ref.re. need to blng to chrch bdy? |
Question (full): I have many people in my life who would consider themselves Christian, though they do not attend any church, do not ever read the Bible, have no apparent walk with God, and at best would be in the infancy of Christianhood. I too was one of these people and lived my life according to me all the while feeling I was a Christian. Until I finally truly received Jesus and took the time to know Him, grow with Him, and learn who He is and what He wants from me. Now I can clearly see I was certainly lost and knew Him not. In 1 John 2:4, John tells us "the man who says 'I know Him,' but does not know what he commands is a liar." This week an old friend of mine commented, "you don't have to go to church to be a Christian", she is a dear person who for all I can see doesn't know Christ. What scriptural background can I give to her to show Jesus calls us to surround ourselves w/ His people and to learn the living word of Christ? |
