Bible Question: Could Jesus' Apostles (The Twelve) be called "theologians" and did they have a "theology"? (My intent is that both words, theologians and theology, be considered in the same sense we understand and use them in our language today.) |
Bible Answer: Hank, I say yes to both. Richilou, Have we changed the definitions? I believe all have a theology ... theo (God) and logy (word or study of). What we believe in God may be different. The Twelve had their theology changed. They were looking for the Messiah and He taught them about God and Himself. He changed their lives and belief about God, beit slowly. I believe this made them "theologians." Today our "theologians" study indirectly ... the Twelve and Paul were studied directly under Him. Steve |
