Subject: Who celebrates Easter Sunday and Why ? |
Bible Note: Actually church history shows quite clearly they celebrated Jesus resurrection each and every Sunday and early records do record they memorialized his birth but there was no universal agreement to date until later in about 3rd to 5th century. Every body more or less had their own day until it later became standardized. We are feed a lot of junk about the Catholic Church did this and did that but understand the early church was the Catholic church. And it established days of celebration as such. Just like we celebrate presidents day a combination of of all the presidents does that mean we diminish any president? No of course not. If history and birth records weren't exact does it matter if we have exactly the absolute day or is it the thought that counts. The early church in one area celebrated holidays at own time and churches in another celebrated at another. Finally a decision was made that everyone would celebrate on this day. Does that open the celebration to paganism I don't think so, However if that is where it takes you then perhaps you ought not celebrate, however for the rest of us we are celebrating our Saviors birth, His death adn his resurrection not something pagan EdB |
