Bible Question: here is my question: in the study that i have been given I am to find the 5 crucifictions that occured with Jesus (including his). I know that there were two others, one on either side of Jesus. They are called robbers, criminals, theives and not named in the Book of John. Who or what are the other 2 and where could i find them in the Bible? Thank you for all your help! |
Bible Answer: mommies4 I think your getting lead into a false teaching I have heard from time to time. If you read the four descriptions of Jesus’ crucifixion you will see that two authors Matthew and Luke described those crucified with Jesus as thieves but Luke calls them “Malefactors” or criminals. John simply says two were crucified with Jesus. Many uninformed men that evidently do not understand the word Malefactor insists this proves there were five crucified not just three. Matthew 27:38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left. Mark 15:27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. John 19:18 Where they crucified him, and two others with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst. I think this is the solution to your question and I want to caution you about the teaching you just received. If they are in fact teaching that there where 2 thieves and 2 malefactors crucified with Jesus I wouldn’t waste my time with the study. EdB |
