Subject: Why ten lampstands and tables? |
Bible Note: Scripture never gives us an answer to this question. So any attempt is pure speculation. What we know is God gave Moses specific instructions on the contruction of the Tabernacle and holy furnishings. We don't see God giving Solomon similar instructions on the construction of the Temple. The Tabernacle was built to be moveable and travel with the Children of Israel as they journeyed to the promise land where the Temple was a permanent fixture. With the in mind I would guess the tabernacle was bare mimimium where the Temple could be lavish. The lampstand was an Old Testament representation of the light of God or the light unto the world Jesus Christ. By having 10 lampstands the light was brighter which even then failed to fully represent the brightness of the Light Jesus cast on sin. Again it is speculation because scripture is silent on this subject. |
