Bible Question: In the NASB Psalm 68:13 sheepfolds is different in other translations. Why? |
Bible Answer: Hi, lovesnfish... Each translation starts with a number of specific objectives. Often there is a questions of the use of literal translation for a phrase. For example, do we use the literal translation that Saul was "covering his feet" or do we say that Saul was having a bowel movement. One is more true to the literal Hebrew idioms, while the other is a more explicit description in modern parlance. Translation is difficult discipline. However, you probably can find a book or two on the subject that will compare and contrast the various principles and approaches. In Him, Doc |
