Bible Question: what are the requirements for a wedding according to the bible? |
Bible Answer: Hello candice, I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for in the way of an answer; maybe you could clarify your question to be more specific. There seems to be a lot of traditional rituals that are adhered to by different cultures. In some cases the Bible says that a man took a wife, and from what I can see, a wedding can be as simple as a man and a woman giving each other the vows, in front of two witnesses. I would hazard to guess that "taking a wife" has different contexts as to the condition or situation of His people as a nation. I cannot find any hard and fast rules/laws on the wedding itself (as I understand the ceremony), other than the MAN and WOMAN must be in agreement when entering the covenant. Therefore the vows that are taken reflect the agreement of the parties. I had previously posted on marriage vows (which are given in the wedding) in post # 96145, you can enter that number in the search box in the upper right hand of the page to read that. There are laws for marriage, divorce, and other related subjects. The word "wedding", used in scripture, seems to be used in some cases, as "marriage". hope this helps, wordoer |
