Bible Question:
I want to do a sermon on Prayer. How to and why. I am not a preacher. I have only given two sermons before. Please give me some scriptures. |
Bible Answer: (From Robert Schuller, Move Ahead with Possibility Thinking, p.51 of the Jove paperback edition): Ask God to help you...once, and never again. For if you have sent Him one petition you may be sure He has your message. Stop asking, but don't stop praying. Stop begging and start thanking. To continue to plead will only indicate your lack of faith in His hearing or helping power. To continue to ask will only generate or intensify your emotional misery. This will weaken you. It will not inspire you. It will not strengthen you. Pleading, negative praying, only exercises and strengthens your anxieties. Someone said: God weighs our prayers, he doesn't count them. In the right way, in the right time, God will answer. So make your prayers affirmative, not negative. |
