Bible Question:
I need help finding readings for my Wedding. I am Roman Catholic, and my priest gave me a booklet with suggested readings and I am not content with them. I know there are more poignant ones out there. I also generally was looking for guidance as to what the 1st, 2nd, and Gospel readings should "say," i.e. what should their focus be? Any help/guidance is much appreciated. Thank you, Emily |
Bible Answer: Emily, It might help if you gave the citations for the readings you have already decided against, so those are not suggested again. In addition, you may have some limits on your options in the Mass. Options may be provided, but you and the priest may not have a compltely free hand. You will need a reading from the Old Testament, a reading from a Psalm, a reading from an Epistle and a Gospel reading. Here are a few suggestions. Some of them may have been among the options you have already looked at, but perhaps not. For the Old Testament Ecclesiastes 31:10-31. For a Psalm 45:11-18 For the Epistle 1 Corinthians 13 is a traditional passage. For the Gospel John 2:1-11 Emmaus |
