Bible Question: I was in two accidents within a month; the first one was when I was hit because someone ran a stop sign and totaled my car and I received musle strain in my neck and upper back. Then last Thursday I was taking a cab to work and a person ran a stop sign again and hit the cab. Now my neck and upper back are very strained plus really put my fibromyalgia into action. I took a walk yesterday to get the police report and it was awful because of the pain. I tried to see how I would function without the medication so I could go back to work - well it didn't work. I'm a cashier and I can't be on the med's because they make you fussy. My question is is it okay to bring a lawsuit against the cab company and the individual that hit the cab? My husband says I have nothing to feel guilty for because I did nothing wrong. My husband was out of work for a year and a half but now has a great new job 145 miles away and we want to move there. God has blessed us with this new job but now this happened. I know that I really hurt and my neck and back are like a rock but because of the last year and a half and our debt from that time of no work; I guess I feel guilty that maybe it looks like an answer to our past debt so we can pay our debts and move. And maybe it is in a way but still I am not making up the pain and strain. I've ask God that I would like to move but I want to leave owing no one. Then this all happened; I am very confused!!! I do not want to go against Gods will but I also don't want to not do something if it is the proper thing to do. I have searched the bible and it goes either way: some say don't but others say that God will be the final judge and you must obey the courts decision. Pertaining to the first accident; the person did not have insurance and according to the law in our state you don't have to carry insurance but if an accident occurs you are financially responsible. So we sent them a letter explaining the costs that we had incurred and are waitng for a response. Your imput would be appreciated. jeannie k |
Bible Answer: jeannie K Are you and your husband currently attending a church? You both need to seek counseling from your pastor. That said..I would like to make a few brief statements. 1. I do aggree and strongly believe in accountability. When we have been robbed, God commanded repayment. 2. In our country where insurance usually pays, there is 'limited accountabilty' because the person does not do most of the repaying, the consumers who carry insurance do. 3. Your question, "My question is it okay to bring a lawsuit against the cab company and the individual that hit the cab?" Why would you sue the cab company if they are not at fault? Lok to the heart... 4. "I guess I feel guilty that maybe it looks like an answer to our past debt so we can pay our debts and move. And maybe it is in a way but still I am not making up the pain and strain. I've ask God that I would like to move but I want to leave owing no one. Then this all happened; I am very confused!!!" Two words jump out here...ANSWER and CONFUSED Confusion comes when our beliefs war with each other. You asked God to provide funds for a clean move 'and now this happened' sems to imply that you do not believe God caused this accident to provide funds, but on the other hand..maybe He did...confusion of beliefs. there are 3 possibilities: 1. God did it to provide through a lawsuit. 2. The enemy did it to prevent you and to cause you to look somewhere other than God for your provision...Read Mark 4..the sower sows the Word, and the thief comes to steal the Word sown. 3. This is just a quirk of fate and you need to work it out as best you can then move on to what God has called you to do. I have a strong problem with this because God does not expect us to carry out His will in our strength and ability, nor do I believe anything happens by happenstance. I hope I have given you and your husband food for thought. In situations like this we are challenged to WORK our faith in God's WORD and watch God move. I suggest you focus on the promises of God as your provider and put your faith in His Word. God bless |
