Bible Note: FytRobert: There are many differing opinions about the use of alcohol - see the search feature! Anything that takes first place or priority in our lives is idolatry. Idolatry is idolatry . . .we just like to give it names . . . but ALL idolatry is offensive to God. We are told to flee from idolatry. 1 COr 10:14 The consumption of alcohol can become a form of idolatry in the life of a believer. This is what we are to avoid. The Christian walk is learning to be free in Christ; but we are not to return to the slavery of "dos and dont's" that some of the more legalistic members of this Forum would like to impose upon you. (read through Galatians!) As you seek to know the One who set you free from the Law, you will find that the Holy Spirit will guide you into a life of intimacy with God. In our relationships with those we love, we strive to do things that will please them or make them happy. SO too the Holy Spirit will work in your life to direct you to things that make the Father happy - here is the win-win you are looking for, for when the Father is happy, you will be too!
