Bible Question: How do you differentiate between persuasion and manipulation? |
Bible Answer: Greetings JVHO212! I've never really thought about this question before! I did a search on the Greek words for "persuasion" and "convince." They seem to be used in both a positive and a negative sense. So, I'm not sure there is really a Biblical answer to this question. However, I think we can appeal to Biblical principles! a) I would see persuasion as an attempt to convince someone of the truth, based upon a loving desire to benefit them. b) I would see manipulation as an attempt to convince someone of a position, based upon a selfish desire to benefit oneself. But, this is just my opinion! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
