Bible Question: I would like to know more about the anointing and how do you guard it? |
Bible Answer: edw Wow! Where to start? First! Let me welcome you to the forum. Anointing, as defined in the Old Testament was when the Holy Spirit settled upon a person. Example David was anointed to lead Israel. The Holy Spirit came upon him and gave him the knowledge and ability to rule the nation. Samson was anointed with power, the Holy Spirit came upon him and gave him great strength. In the New Testament each and every believer is filled with the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." You do not have to guard the anointing it was given to guard you. Now if your talking of anointing that many preachers refer to. What I think your really talking about is unction. The Holy Spirit places in some men a unction to preach, to profess the Word, to declare the good news. Many preachers get hit with nerves and the realization of how truly awesome the responsibility of preaching the word is. There is an surge they experience and claim it to be the anointing. I’m not sure that is the anointing or rather the physical body reacting to the situation. In any case don’t concern yourself with protecting the anointing but protect the precious truth that lead you to salvation. Protect your spirit from the lies of the world by reading and studying the living Word of God. Protect you relationship with your Savior by daily meaningful prayer. And protect your heart from all unrighteousness but dwelling on what is true, just, has a good report, edifies, encourages and beautiful. EdB |
