Bible Answer: Kinfolk, The wailing wall was a retaining wall built to support the ground on which Herod the great built the Temple in Jerusalem. The building of Herod's temple was begun in 19 B.C. and finished ten yers later. The decoration of the buidings continued for another several decades and was only finished in 64 A.D., six years before it was all destroyed. It was oviuoly not destroyed when Jerusalem was destroyed. It was not a building or part of a building itself, just a retaining wall. Emmaus |
