Bible Question:
I have a friend who is really and I mean really concerned that God did not specifically condemn Solomon for his may wives. Is there any verse that she has missed specifically addressing God's condemnation of Solomon's sin?? I have searched all answers to date on polygamy but see nothing just addressing Solomon. Thanks for any help you can give us in this study. |
Bible Answer: We do not KNOW for certain that God did not condemn Solomon for his many wives. What we DO KNOW for certain is that it is not RECORDED in the Bible that God condemned Solomon for his many wives. We need to recognize two truths: 1) Not every last detail of the lives of people in the Bible is recorded in Scripture. 2) Because we do not read where God condemns or rebukes someone for a certain sin does not mean God condones that sin. The Bible says of Jesus: John 20:30 (ESV) Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; John 21:25 (ESV) Now there are also many other things that Jesus did... If the Bible does not record every last thing that Jesus did, why would it do otherwise where lesser persons are concerned? |
